Prediabetes: Your Warning Sign and Your Window to Act

Prediabetes: Your Warning Sign and Your Window to Act

Prediabetes means your blood sugar is higher than normal, but not yet high enough to be classified as Type 2 diabetes. It is extremely common, and most people who have it do not know it — there are usually no symptoms at all. That is exactly why routine lab work matters, especially if diabetes runs in your family.

Who Should Be Screened

  • Adults with a family history of Type 2 diabetes
  • Anyone who is overweight or has a sedentary lifestyle
  • People with a history of high blood pressure or high cholesterol
  • Women who had gestational diabetes during a previous pregnancy

The Good News

Prediabetes is often reversible. Modest, sustainable changes — not drastic overhauls — make the biggest difference. Our approach includes:

  • Baseline lab work — an A1C and fasting glucose test to confirm where you stand
  • Nutrition counseling — straightforward changes to what and how you eat
  • Activity goals — building in regular movement a little at a time
  • Follow-up monitoring — rechecking your numbers to confirm progress
  • Education — understanding exactly what raises and lowers your risk

Think of a prediabetes diagnosis as an early warning light, not a verdict. With the right support, many people bring their blood sugar back into a healthy range and stay there.
